Our Mission

Run Hope Work is a nonprofit organization that seeks to provide at-risk DC youth with pathways to employment in the construction and IT industries.

01

RUN

/ BUILD CONFIDENCE

Running reduces stress, alleviates depression, and improves overall well-being. We use running, primarily as an early boost to encourage morning work activity, build confidence and provide a structured physical outlet for our participants.

02

HOPE

/ PRACTICE MINDFULNESS

Our Hope Sessions are for meditation and are an essential component of our philosophy. Our daily circle meditation teaches self-awareness and mindfulness, designed to foster a deeper connection with oneself and the community.

03

WORK

/ CREATE EMPLOYMENT

To increase our participant’s employability profile, they need more than a nice resume and interviewing skills, they need credentials. We offer professional trainings that certify our members in competitive industries, leading to sustainable career opportunities

Jose Ortiz

The Founder’s Story

Run Hope Work was founded in 2015 by Jose Ortiz. Jose modeled his workforce development programs based on his own path to success, after struggling with addiction and homelessness. Jose received a second chance from a mentor who taught him the trade of flooring, and from friends who introduced him to running.

Running and meditation saved him from a life of hardship. Jose is now the proud owner of Allstate Floors, a community leader, and a decorated triathlete. Jose created Run Hope Work in hopes to help others like him achieve wellness and career stability.
